INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

It takes a staggering amount of dedication, creativity and expertise to bring a single cup of coffee to life. In the coffee industry, as in most industries, women have historically been hidden figures. We took a minute to make them visible. Over the course of six days, we profiled women who do just that. The campaign began on IWD and continued throughout the week, long after other brands had moved on, because women deserve more than a damn day.

CUPS OF KINDNESS

We were tasked with promoting two new beverages in partnership with Lady Gaga. With the colorful inviting drinks, and Lady Gaga's history of inclusivity though her Born this Way Foundation, we focused on celebrating kindness and acceptance. We grouped the two feature beverages with two additional fan favorites to create a colorful collection called, "Cups of Kindness". Proceeds supported the foundation and marketing materials focused on inclusive casting and art direction along with two firsts for our social channels—a model identifying as male in lipstick, and a woman over 60.

SIGNING STORE

To celebrate the opening of our first US signing store, we took note from the baristas behind the counter. We loved hearing that customers were asking to learn signs for our drinks even if they weren't deaf—so we extended that experience to social. Our response videos featured partners from our Internal Deaf Partner Network.

VETERAN'S DAY

Starbucks has several enterprise-level initiatives supporting veterans, and we talk about them every year on Veteran's Day. This year, we wanted to take the opportunity to share a more personal story. One that celebrates the connections that happen in our stores, and the goodness you can find in community.

REUSABLE CUPS

Our regional marketing leads needed ways to encourage customers to switch from disposable cups to reusables. Our marketing team partnered with The Decision Lab to develop over 50 purchase scenarios, customer behaviors and drivers—which they brought to us to simplify into digestible 1 minute videos.
